The Year of Mercy

Pope Francis has announced that there will be a jubilee year of mercy from December 8th until Novemeber 20, 2016.  The theme will be, "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful' (cf Lk 6:36)."  The pope said, "I am convinced that the whole Church will find in this Jubilee the joy needed to rediscover and make fruitful the mercy of God, with which all of us are called to give consolation to every man and woman of our time.  From this moment, we entrust this Holy Year to the Mother of Mercy, that she might turn her gaze upon us and watch over our journey." In light of our recent celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday this past Sunday, and this upcoming Year of Mercy, let us ask the Lord to prepare our hearts to receive His mercy and to be stewards of mercy.  St. Faustina has recorded these words of Jesus in her Diary, “Tell souls not to place within their own hearts obstacles to My mercy, which so greatly wants to act within them. My mercy works in all those hearts which open their doors to it. Both the sinner and the righteous person have need of My mercy. Conversion, as well as perseverance, is a grace of My mercy.” (Diary,  1577).

Jesus, remove from our hearts any obstacles to mercy!!
