“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a
virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.” (Isaiah

“As God was
physically formed in Mary, so he wills to be spiritually formed in you. If you
knew he was seeing through your eyes, you would see in everyone a child of God.
If you knew he worked through your hands, they would bless all the day through
… If you knew that he wants to use your mind, your will, your fingers, and your
heart, how different you would be.” (Advent

As we begin this Advent season, let us pray that Emmanuel,
God with us, desire of every nation, Savior of all peoples, will come and dwell
among us. May He fill our hearts with
hope as we joyfully await His coming. May the light of hope burn in our hearts
as we begin this Advent season. Amen.
