“No one in the world can
change Truth.” - St. Maximilian Kolbe
I came across this quote
the other day and was just struck by how profound it was. To the human eye it
is a simple sentence, but its depths have no end. No one in the world can change Truth! What does that mean? What is
Truth? God is Truth! And no one can change Him! I smiled after reflecting on
this simple statement.
This past weekend
Nicolette, Kristen, Catherine, myself and a friend of ours had the opportunity
to go to the Charismatic Conference in Steubenville, Ohio. I think we would all
agree in saying that it was one of the best conferences we have been to. Why? Because we were surrounded by hundreds
of people who weren’t afraid to speak Truth, praise the Truth and humble
themselves before the Truth. I experienced the Triune God in a way that I never
have in my entire life. We listened to speakers who weren’t afraid to challenge
and encourage us in Truth and who proclaimed, with St. Maximilian Kolbe, “no one in the world can change Truth!”
As I reflect on this past
weekend one thing that really struck me was this statement said by one of the
speakers: “Before you can go out to preach and evangelize, you have to realize
that you are loved.” The God of the universe, this Truth, thought of us and
loved us before we even took our first breath! Amazing! No matter what is going
on in the world or what our culture says, God is still Father, Jesus is still
the Lord and the Holy Spirit is still
the gift of the Father and the Son! Once we realize this, amidst all the
clamoring of the world, we can sit and allow ourselves to be loved by Him Who
first loved us. Once you acknowledge that love, accept that love and relish in
that love, you can go out to proclaim that Love ‘in Spirit and in truth’! (John 4:23)
As we approach Father’s
Day this Sunday, take the time to be thankful for all the men in your life who
have been a father to you! But most importantly, take the time to thank your
Heavenly Father for the life He has given you, the love He has showered you
with and the knowledge to know that He will never change!
