Witness

There has been a big debate in the news lately about faith and where it does and does not belong.  As a Christian and Catholic, my faith is not segregated nor compartmentalized in my life.  It's a continuous motion that I welcome because spirituality is in every aspect of our lives.  I want to encourage all Christians around the world to allow their faith to become integrated into every aspect of their lives.  Christ calls us to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19-20).  How did we first become disciples of Jesus Christ?  He was, and still is, revealed to us through the Liturgy in the Eucharist, in  Sacred Scripture and through the witness of the people we go to Church with.

Pope Paul VI, in his Apostolic Exhortation, Evangelii Nuntiandi (Evangelization in the Modern World), says, "Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers and if he listens to teachers it is because they are first witnesses" (41).  If we truly desire to help build the Kingdom of God, we must witness to the beauty of the Kingdom, the love of the Kingdom and the peace of the Kingdom through the example of our lives.  Let us joyfully bring Christ into the world through the smallest ways!
